    The goal Introduction to the history, theory and practice of translation. The development of skills related to translation and familiarising with the fundamental translator techniques, their practical adaptation. Getting acquainted with the dictionaries, manuals and other reference books, orientation in the fundamental literature are necessary for the translator work. Knowledge of differences and similarities between the Hungarian and Serbian language (lexical, syntactic) and deviations between the cultures.
    The outcome Expertise in translation practice, in the evaluation of literary and technical translations, in the comparison of the original and target languages. Comprehensive professional and cultural knowledge, familiarity in the cultural and literary life of the source language and target language countries.
    Contents
    Contents of lectures Translation science: theory, history, critique, practice. The relation of the two languages. The originality/authenticity of reproduction. The poetics of translation. Translation as literary historical category. Translation of lyric, prose and dramatic texts. Technical translation. Interpretation. Intercultural communication, translation of the elements of culture and civilisation. False friends. Translator appliances. Translation from translation. Re-translations. Using info communicational devices in the translator work. Translation techniques. Translation criticism. The role of translation in foreign language teaching. Translation and ethics.
    Contents of exercises Independent translation of texts with different genre, the analysis and compraison of their translations; analysis of published (Hungarian‒Serbian/Serbian‒Hungarian) literary translations, re-translation of certain parts. Writing literary translation critique.
