    The goal Preparing the students for independent research work in the different informational institutions (library, archives, museum), opening the door to master the document knowledge, qualifying for preparing independently a scientific thesis.
    The outcome The students are engaged in independent research work; write a scientific thesis from the topics of Hungarian literature, folklore, or cultural history.
    Contents
    Contents of lectures The concept of science, scientific information. Information centres (libraries, museums, archives). Library types, library structure. Catalogues. Structures and types of the publication. Study, essay, critique. The monograph. Scientific journals. Bibliography. Reading scientific texts. Content exposure: annotation, presentation. Reference, quoting. Subject headings, keywords, abstract. Choice of subject, title of the scientific thesis. The structure, style and language of the thesis. Defence of the thesis, publishing. Bibliometria, the criteria of evaluation of the scientific works.
    Contents of exercises The students can develop their abilities and skills necessary for independent research work through their independent practical work and thesis writing. Choose a topic on their own initiative (with supervision of the mentor teacher),design the course of the research, establish the title of the paper and its structure, seek out the relevant literature, read scientific texts, prepare notes, formulate keywords, write an abstract, refer, quote and frame the thesis.
