    The goal The course aims to acquaint students with the nature and types of speech sounds, as well as with scientific facts on their features.
    The outcome Students will be able to identify and recognize the speech sounds used in the Hungarian language, as well as to apply this knowledge in other linguistic courses.
    Contents
    Contents of lectures The subject and history of phonetic research. Division of contemporary phonetics. Sound formation. Speech organs. Vowels in the Hungarian language. Coarticulation. Transcription and transliteration. Prosodic features of speech. The sense and organ of hearing. Sound perception. Speech research methods and tools.
    Contents of exercises Text analysis focusing on the sounds used, practice in recognition of sound features.
